Very nice button box, but pricey

"Positives first, this is a great looking button box with a quality feel to most of the encoders and buttons. It is totally plug and play and mounted easily to my rig using an old VESA mount I had. Ordering and delivery was painless and it came well packaged in a nice looking Apex box with a few extra treats in there too which was a nice touch. The negatives really centre around the price. I am a UK user and once import duty and post office handling fees had been applied the total cost of this box is £285. That makes it an extremely expensive button box in my view. For that price I expect perfection and so if I were to get picky there are a few things. The three small toggles do not have as quality feel as the rest of the inputs, one of the illuminated buttons is not quite horizontal which tests my OCD. Finally, one of the mounting holes on the back is not seated quite right but does still take the bolt well. Overall, am I pleased with my purchase? Yes, if I forget about the cost, which I will over time. Would I buy it again? Not at this price."

Massive boon in utility and immersion

"Working with a Thrustmaster wheelbase had me pretty limited in terms of mappable buttons, and getting deep into sim racing it became pretty apparent quickly that having a button box would be a solid solution to this problem. After some searching online and endorsement from iRacing, I settled on the Apex Downforce Button Box and could not be happier. The box is plug and play, so boot up your sim of choice, take some time to set it how you like and away you go. Having another device to set some common use commands opened up space on my wheel so I could keep focus on the track instead of trying to work on the keyboard. Plus nothing like flipping on the ignition and hitting the start button to get you right into the sim. As for construction of the unit itself, you can tell the parts are quality and will last a long time. You can definitely tell it's handmade, although I'm unsure if it's due to shipping rattling a few things loose or a QC issue but a few of the knobs weren't as secure or aligned straight. This appears to be easily fixed by giving things a good tightening or re-centring, but I've yet to take it apart to do so. I have knocked a star off for this, but its not a deal breaker at all as everything works perfectly fine and registers through Control Panel and in-game. Just something for QC to double check or maybe a consideration for the packing materials. All in all, very pleased with this product, and should I ever need to expand my set up, I'll be sure to look at Apex Sim Racing first."
