Simagic Zeus compatibility guide: which accessories do you actually need?

The Zeus Series is Simagic's most capable steering wheel platform yet — but the accessory ecosystem trips up even experienced sim racers. Here's exactly what you need based on your setup.

Apex Sim Racing · June 2026 · 5 min read

Launched at SimRacing Expo Charlotte in May 2026, the Zeus Series introduces a modular platform that works across Simagic's Alpha EVO bases, original Alpha bases, and third-party wheelbases. The headline idea is simple: one MagicDash 4 display that snaps in and out of any Zeus wheel, so if you own multiple wheels you don't need a separate dash for each one. That's a genuinely smart concept — but the accessory picture surrounding it trips up a lot of buyers.

This guide covers every configuration: Zeus wheel only, Zeus wheel with MagicDash 4, and MagicDash 4 as a standalone cockpit display. By the end you'll know exactly what to add to cart — and what you don't need.

Meet the Zeus Series

Three wheels, one platform. The Zeus Formula ($499), GT ($349), and Sport ($329) each target a different driving style but share the same accessory ecosystem and MagicDash 4 compatibility. Buy one dash and move it between all three.

What each accessory does

Before the tables, a quick plain-English breakdown of each accessory so the logic makes sense:

  • Plug and play  Zeus wheels connect natively to Alpha EVO bases via the EVO's internal USB pass-through. Nothing extra to buy.
  • AirLink  Wireless module for Alpha EVO bases. Required any time MagicDash 4 is involved on an EVO setup. It bypasses the EVO's internal USB slip ring and uses Simagic's own WiFi connection instead — this is counter to the EVO's original "no add-ons" goal but is apparently necessary for the most stable dash connection. SimHub note: AirLink gives you SimHub on the dash, but wheel LED control stays within SimPro Manager. For full SimHub LED control of the wheel, use Maglink Pro instead.
  • Maglink Pro  Wired connection for third-party bases and original Alpha bases. Handles power and data for the Zeus wheel and/or MagicDash 4. Important: Maglink Pro requires a MagLink plate to be physically installed on the Zeus wheel itself — the wheel is not stock when using this. Also unlocks full SimHub LED control of both the wheel and dash.
  • Maglink Pro Xtend  For original Alpha series bases only (Alpha, Alpha Ultimate, Alpha Mini, M10). Works differently to Maglink Pro — it's effectively a USB pass-through via coiled active USB cable rather than an internal slip ring. The Zeus wheel stays completely stock with no plate installation needed. One Xtend covers multiple Zeus wheels on the same base, so you don't need to modify each wheel individually. Also works with Simagic's QR-A when installed on a third-party base. Note: adds meaningful length to the wheelbase stem.
  • MagDock  Physical mount and connection hub for the MagicDash 4 when used without a Zeus wheel. Once you have a Zeus wheel, the dash mounts to the wheel directly — MagDock isn't needed.
  • QR-A  For the reverse scenario: mounting a third-party steering wheel onto an Alpha EVO base. Not needed for Zeus wheels on an EVO base — that's plug and play.
  • USB-C (rear port)  There is a USB-C port on the back of every Zeus wheel, but this is for firmware updates only — not a primary day-to-day racing connection.

Find your setup

Identify your scenario, then check the row for your wheelbase type.

Scenario 1

Zeus wheel only

No MagicDash 4 attached.

Scenario 2

Zeus wheel + MagicDash 4

Dash snaps onto the wheel while you drive.

Scenario 3

MagicDash 4 standalone

Dash mounted to rig or base — no Zeus wheel.

Nothing extra needed
Wired accessory required
Wireless accessory required
Mount + connection accessory

Scenario 1 — Zeus wheel only

No MagicDash 4
Your base What you need Notes
Alpha EVO series Plug and play Connects natively — no accessories required.
EVO Sport, EVO, EVO Pro.
Original Alpha series Maglink Pro Xtend Original Alpha can't power or communicate with Zeus natively.
Wheel stays stock — no plate installation needed. Covers multiple Zeus wheels on one base. Alpha, Alpha Ultimate, Alpha Mini, M10.
Third-party base Maglink Pro Handles power and data between Zeus and your base.
Requires MagLink plate installed on the Zeus wheel. Moza, Fanatec, Asetek, VRS, Cammus. See QR note below.

Scenario 2 — Zeus wheel + MagicDash 4

Dash snaps to the wheel — no MagDock needed
Your base What you need Notes
Alpha EVO series AirLink One wireless accessory covers both the wheel and the dash.
SimHub supported on the dash. Full SimHub wheel LED control requires Maglink Pro instead of AirLink.
Original Alpha series Maglink Pro Xtend Wired through the base. Dash still snaps onto the wheel magnetically.
Wheel stays stock — no plate installation needed.
Third-party base Maglink Pro Wired through the base. Dash still snaps onto the wheel magnetically.
No MagDock required. See QR note below.

Scenario 3 — MagicDash 4 standalone

No Zeus wheel — dash mounts to rig or base via MagDock
Your base What you need Notes
Alpha EVO series AirLink Wireless. EVO has a built-in front mount — no MagDock needed.
Works alongside a Zeus wheel or without one.
Original Alpha series MagDock Provides both the physical mount and wired connection. Includes Maglink Pro Hub.
Third-party base MagDock Requires front mounting holes on your base. Includes Maglink Pro Hub.
Fanatec, Moza, Asetek, VRS, Cammus, and others.
The rule that clears up most of the confusion: MagDock is only for the standalone dash scenario — when there's no Zeus wheel. The moment you have a Zeus wheel, the MagicDash 4 mounts directly onto it. Your connection accessory (AirLink or Maglink Pro) then handles everything through the base. You do not need MagDock.
Third-party base users — check your quick release before ordering. Maglink Pro handles the electrical and data connection to your third-party base, but physical mounting compatibility depends on your specific base and QR system. Not every third-party QR has been officially confirmed by Simagic. If you're on Moza, Fanatec, Asetek, or similar, reach out to us before ordering so we can confirm everything lines up.
Running a non-Simagic wheel on an EVO base? That's the reverse scenario — and it uses the QR-A adapter ($89). The QR-A mounts a third-party steering wheel onto an Alpha EVO base via USB pass-through. This is unrelated to Zeus wheels, which connect natively to EVO bases without any adapter.

A few things worth knowing

SimHub LED control depends on how you connect. This is the detail most people miss. If you're on an EVO base using AirLink, the MagicDash 4 fully supports SimHub — but the wheel's own LEDs are controlled through SimPro Manager, not SimHub. If you want full SimHub control over both the dash and the wheel LEDs, connect via Maglink Pro instead of AirLink. For most sim racers SimPro Manager's LED control is more than enough, but if SimHub is a hard requirement for your setup, factor this in.

The Zeus Formula looks different without the dash. When the MagicDash 4 is removed, the Formula loses its main top LED strip — the dash slot sits empty and the wheel looks noticeably unfinished. The GT and Sport both retain their LED strips regardless of whether the dash is fitted, so they work as complete wheels with or without the display. Not a dealbreaker, but worth knowing before you buy the Formula without a dash.

Maglink Pro Xtend adds length to your stem. One Xtend can cover multiple Zeus wheels on the same Alpha base (a cost-saving compared to one Maglink Pro per wheel), but it adds meaningful physical length to your wheelbase stem. Depending on your monitor distance and rig setup, this could push your wheel further forward than expected. Check your clearances before ordering.

MagDock magnetic hold on EVO is light. When the MagicDash 4 is mounted directly to the front of an Alpha EVO base via AirLink (Scenario 3), the magnetic retention is fairly light and the dash can be nudged by hand. On a static rig this is unlikely to cause issues, but if you're running a motion platform or aggressive transducers, keep an eye on it.

Common questions

Do I need both AirLink and Maglink Pro if I have an EVO base?
No — pick one based on what you need. AirLink is wireless and covers the wheel and dash with SimHub dash support. Maglink Pro is wired and additionally gives you full SimHub LED control of the wheel itself. You only ever need one.
Can I share one MagicDash 4 across multiple Zeus wheels?
Yes — this is the whole point of the system. The dash snaps in and out magnetically, so if you own a Formula and a Sport for example, one $199 dash covers both. You don't need to buy a separate dash per wheel.
What's the difference between Maglink Pro and Maglink Pro Xtend?
More than just base compatibility. Maglink Pro requires a MagLink plate to be installed directly on each Zeus wheel — the wheel is modified. Maglink Pro Xtend works differently: it's a USB pass-through via coiled active USB cable, and the wheel stays completely stock with no modification needed. One Xtend covers every Zeus wheel on that base, while Maglink Pro is per-wheel. Xtend is Alpha bases only; Maglink Pro is for third-party bases.
Can I use the MagicDash 4 without a Zeus wheel?
Yes, that's Scenario 3. On an EVO base, AirLink handles it wirelessly with no MagDock needed. On an original Alpha or third-party base, MagDock provides the mount and connection. The dash has no standalone power source so one of these is always required.
Does AirLink support SimHub?
Partially. AirLink supports SimHub on the MagicDash 4 display itself, but wheel LED control stays in SimPro Manager when using AirLink. For full SimHub LED control of the wheel, connect via Maglink Pro or USB-C instead.
Do Zeus wheels work on original Alpha bases?
Yes, with Maglink Pro Xtend. Full functionality is available — just not plug and play. Bear in mind the Xtend adds length to your stem, so check your rig clearances first.
Is the Zeus Series console compatible?
No — Zeus is PC only at launch.
