Apex Sim Racing Open Box System: How Does it Work?
Introduction
At Apex Sim Racing, we aim to provide competitive pricing that’s often more cost-effective than buying directly from manufacturers or other resellers. Our Open Box system supports this by offering returned, tested, or lightly handled products at reduced prices. Every item goes through a full inspection and is graded according to our condition standards, ensuring you receive the same reliable performance at a better value.
Each opened box is carefully evaluated before we list it for sale. We rank items A through C based on visible cosmetic wear such as scratches or scuffs, any damage to the original packaging, and other signs of prior use. This system gives customers a clear understanding of the product’s condition before purchase, ensuring transparency and confidence when choosing open box gear. Plus- they're all discounted!
Why We Offer Open Box Products
In many cases, a customer may use a product for only a few days before deciding to return or exchange it. Rather than reselling these items as new, we offer them at a discount if they show any visible wear. This approach not only maintains transparency but also helps make sim racing more accessible for those working within a budget. At the same time, it supports sustainability by giving quality products a second life instead of letting them go to waste.
We adjust pricing based on the condition of each opened item. For example, products labeled as A-graded will receive a 5% discount, B-graded items are discounted 7%, and C-graded products are reduced by 10%.
A Grade Products
We classify A-graded products with the following criteria: minimal to no visible blemishes. Includes all original packaging, cables, and accessories. The item may have been briefly handled or tested, but shows virtually no signs of use.
Grade A items may have been opened or lightly used but show little to no signs of wear. We also classify products as Grade A if they are brand new but have significant box damage. Instead of selling these as new items, we prioritize transparency and offer them at a discounted rate.
B Grade Products
Grade B items may show cosmetic blemishes, such as small scratches, scuffs, or signs of previous mounting and use. These products are fully functional and perform to the same standard as brand-new equipment, but they do not meet the criteria for Grade A due to their cosmetic condition.
While original packaging is not always included, every Grade B product comes with all the same essential parts, cables, and accessories you would expect if buying new. This ensures you still receive a complete product experience at a lower cost. To reflect the minor imperfections, we discount Grade B items by 7%, giving racers an affordable way to access high-quality gear

C Grade Products
Grade C items show more noticeable cosmetic blemishes, such as visible scratches, scuffs, or wear. In some cases, these products may have been refurbished or repaired to restore full functionality. Packaging may be non-original, and some small parts, such as nuts, bolts, or cables, may be missing. Any missing components will always be clearly noted in the product listing.
While they don’t have the same cosmetic appeal as Grade A or B items, they are fully tested to ensure reliable performance. To reflect their condition, we discount Grade C products by 10%, offering the most budget-friendly way to experience quality sim racing gear.
Key Takeaways
If you’re on a budget but still want to purchase quality hardware, our Open Box system provides a practical way to save while getting the same performance. By offering discounted products that have been opened or lightly used, we make premium sim racing gear more accessible to drivers who want the best value for their investment. Every item is inspected and verified to ensure it performs to the same standard as new equipment, giving you confidence in your purchase.
Additionally, choosing open-box items supports sustainability within the sim racing community. Instead of letting returned or cosmetically imperfect products go to waste, we give them a second life in the hands of racers who will put them to use. This approach reduces unnecessary waste while helping more enthusiasts experience high-quality gear at an affordable price. It is a solution that benefits both our customers and the environment.
