Build the Cable You Actually Want
The DIY Coiled Cable is raw cable for building your own wheel connection. So you choose the connectors, the orientation and the finished length rather than taking whatever a pre-made cable gives you.
This is cable only. However, that is the point: if you are building a custom wheel or button plate, you already know which connectors your build needs.
Specifications
- Color: black
- Core count: 5 (red, white, green, black, yellow)
- Straight ends: 4 inches each
- Coiled section: 1 ft, stretching to 6 ft
- Coiled diameter: 22 mm
Because the coil stretches to six feet, it covers full lock-to-lock movement. Meanwhile it retracts out of the way when you are not turning.
Wiring to Standard USB Pinout
The five cores match the standard USB pinout used across our wheels and hubs:
- 1: Red, 5V
- 2: White, D-
- 3: Green, D+
- 4: Black, GND
- 5: Yellow, not used
However, check your wheel before wiring. Some manufacturers use a different pinout, and wiring to the wrong one can damage the wheel.
What You Still Need
No connectors are included. Therefore you will need GX12 connectors or whatever your build calls for, plus the usual soldering kit.
If you would rather not wire it yourself, we sell finished cables with GX12 5-pin connectors already fitted.
