Apex Sim Racing Open Box System: How Does it Work?
We have some news for anyone who has been waiting for the right moment to jump into Simagic gear, or to add that next piece to their rig.
Apex Sim Racing is now a certified Simagic open box and refurbished partner. That means Simagic authorized units come to our New Jersey warehouse, get inspected and tested by the Apex team, and go back on the shelf at a discount. Same hardware you would buy new, same US-based support, lower price.
What "open box" actually means here
Open box gets used loosely across the industry, so here is exactly what it means at Apex.
Most of these units are not broken. They are customer returns, display units, and packages that got opened and sent back. A smaller number needed an actual repair, and those are handled separately and labeled as certified refurbished.
Every single unit, regardless of grade, goes through the same process before it ships:
- Full functional inspection and testing by our team
- Firmware checked and updated where applicable
- Cables and accessories verified against the packing list
- Repacked and ready to ship
Nothing goes out the door until it is ready for its next owner.
The condition grades
We grade every open box item so you know what you are getting before you click buy. Images are available on request for any listing.
Grade A: Excellent
Includes all cables, accessories, and original packaging. Minimal to no cosmetic blemishes. Inspected, tested, and repacked by our team.
Grade B: Good
Original packaging may not be included. All cables, accessories, and mounting hardware are included. Minor cosmetic blemishes may be present. Inspected, tested, and repacked by our team.
Grade C: Fair
Original packaging may not be included. All cables and accessories required for operation are included. May be missing mounting bolts, t-nuts, or stickers. Cosmetic blemishes are visible on the unit. Inspected, tested, and repacked by our team.
The lower the grade, the bigger the discount. If cosmetics do not matter to you and the unit is going to live behind a wheel rim anyway, Grade B and Grade C are where the real savings sit.

Stock moves fast and quantities are limited by grade. When a grade sells out, that option disappears until the next batch comes through refurb.
Warranty and terms
- Every open box and certified refurbished unit carries a 1 year warranty
- All open box sales are final. No returns on these items
- Ships from our New Jersey warehouse, same as our new inventory

Why this matters
Direct drive is not cheap. A lot of racers spend months deciding between the 9NM and the 12NM, or put off the hydraulic pedal upgrade another season. Open box closes that gap.
